How can I make a liquid solution of diazepam (valium) for oral use as its insoluble in water ? Hello i was wondering how i would go about making a liquid solution of diazepam (valium) for oral use from 10mg generic tablets to more accurately measure dose, I know that it is insoluble in water but soluble in alcohol but i know that alcohol and benzos are a no go, i know they make a inject able liquid ampules, so how would i go about making a liquid oral solution where it will not separate. Thanks

snapper replied: "valium is best absorbed the oral route and is pretty must wasted when given as an injection iv or im. there is no way to make a 100% homogenous (?) mixture where you can measure it down to the milligram without having a lab with all the supplies. break it into 2 or 4 sections, crush, arm put it on erm...your patients tongue or in pudding. a crushed pill will have a quicker onset and almost complete bioavailability unlike an injection"

Diazepam (Valium)? I took this pre ion drug before and dont remember any side effects, if I take it agan can I get side effects?

StrawberrySwing replied: "That depends on how many you take"

Bunts replied: "I was given Diazepam in hospital following a serious back operation. I don't remember any side effects, but I do remember flirting with the nurses. I don't know if the two are synonymous......"

happy happy joy joy replied: "Addiction. It's not worth getting hooked on I say. You might wake up one early morning in a sweat and feel ill (so my psychiatrist told me - he wouldn't prescribe them for me). They are fine in small doses like as a one off to calm someone down who is not well. Shouldn't be taken all the time."

Dr Frank replied: "There are only 3 sensible uses for diazepam, as even mediocre doctors have been aware for years, as a premedication prior to surgery and as a drug to bring epileptic patients out of status epilepticus. Finally though it is addictive, it is sometimes appropriately used to wean patients off more addictive drugs in similar drug groups, such as lorazepam and zopicline. As a so called anxiolytic some studies show it to be LESS effective than placebo!"

vambo number five replied: "It is a viciously addictive drug, I can confirm that from my own experience."

Rob E replied: "People can respond differently to the same medication taken at different periods, so not having side effects once is no guarantee that you'll never have them. It's less likely that you'll have them, as you didn't before, but it is addictive, as you know, which is one major side effect. Drugs also work in combination with each other, so other intake may also effect the side effects of either, if you're taking something else. Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob"

What are the differences between Xanax and Diazepam/valium? How are the effects different and when are each prescribed? I think people use Xanax like valium, but I really don't understand the difference, and when I read the side effects, I learned that Xanax can actually CAUSE anxiety. I'm looking for something that will numb me up for a flight I have to take. I have huge anxiety when I fly. Which one is best if I want to be knocked out for a duration? Would Ambien be better?

CB replied: "xanax and valium are the same thing. they have different trade names because they are manufactured by different drug companies but they fuck you up the same .with those drugs you will be really chilled out and probably not worry about things but still be alert enough to react in an emergency. Ambien will probably totally knock you out, so if you really need to be unconscious for this flight I'd recommend that. Otherwise, get a valium."

Gin Stem replied: "Take either a good dosage of Xanex or Valium if you want to fly and be somewhat conscious (and pretty high) or take Ambien if you want to just completey fall asleep and wake up safely on the ground. Hey, another benefit is that if your airplane crashes and everyone dies, you'll be asleep so you won't even hear the screams of everyone as they die in terriable agony and fire and explosion and your death will probably be instantanious. Good luck"

Tulssadog replied: "You need to talk to your doctor. Do not take things that are you are not prescribed for. Ambien is a sleep agent. Why would you want to take that? I mean how long is your flight? Is it over sea's? I really don't know of to many doctors that are going to want you knocked out for a flight..as I would not want to be either. What if they needed to wake you up for something? Just be careful on taking drugs. Also you know there are classes for anxiety. But, please call your doctor and explain your intense anxiety."

Cordelias Mama replied: "Ambien will make you go to sleep, a lot of times Xanax is perscribed for flights only because with Valium the residual drowsiness is extreme, the best for a short flight would probably be Ativan, as you will be alert easier but still will have the same effect (BTW all the drugs described besides Ambien, belong the the Benzodiazapine family of drugs)"

guitarfreak335 replied: "Xanax can make you feel more relaxed and not as jittery but i take Diazepam as a sleep aid and it works well for me. I recommend the valium. Also, thank you for your imput and I agree with your opinion. Thats one thing I have already found that i dislike about this site, it limits your ability to fully explain yourself or your question, and may make you appear to have a narrowed perspective."

How long should you take diazepam (valium) for before the drug is rendered useless? And what dosage?

Sgt Big Red replied: "I have been on diazepam for over 9 years now (thanks to the VA hospital) and it still works, did have to increase dosage to 40mg over the years, but it still works well."

Cindi W replied: "The use of Valium is effective for as long as it takes away the symptoms of anxiety. This varies in different people. It depends how often you take it and how much you take. Some people who take 20mg. a day everyday may find that this amount is no longer effective after a couple of months. You should only take this when you absolutely have to because Valium does have a high incidence of physical addiction... where your body requires more and more to achieve the same effect."

Will a few beers help with Diazepam/Valium withdrawl Symptoms? I'm having trouble coming off Valium. Is it ok to have a few beers to ease the symptoms. I've had no Diazepam in 4 days now and I feel spaced out, anxious and my hands still shake. I wasn't on Valium to get me off alcohol and am not an alcoholic but drink moderately.

rish replied: "no, try not to how much were you takin before you stopped? you should wean off them gradually, not instantaneously, otherwiseyou will get withdrawal symptoms. if they are too bad, then go see your doctor, as they are the ones who are in t he best position to help you"

Obama Queen replied: "If you are truly addicted to benzos it is a tough nut to get off. Not taking any for 7 to 10 days and you are outta the woods. If you are not mixing alcohol and benzos and the beer takes the edge off, you're good. I was on 12 - 16 mg of xanax per day for over two years and when i quit them completely I did not feel right for 2-3 weeks"

Writingg replied: "Wean off. If things get REALLY bad, have your doctor prescribe you something to counteract the symptoms. Better that then to not be able to get off them at all. Eventually you'll be free"

sub7ime replied: "If you're having withdrawal symptoms, and what you've described are withdrawal symptoms, you need to have a physician build a benzo taper for you."

Can a Teen Boy take Diazepam (Valium) for Sleeping? I was wonder if a 15-year-old teenage boy can take one 2mg dosage of Diazepam (substituted for Valium) right before bed to fall asleep? His sleeping hours are messed up, and school starts Monday! He goes to sleep at 5AM and wakes up in the afternoon. He wants to start waking up at 6AM and sleeping at 10PM. Also, he has exercise-induced asthma, but he hasn't used his inhaler in a month and wont be using it for a long time.

Toad replied: "Yes, whatever works for you. I don't think it should effect asthma at all."

pearlene29 replied: "Well, discipline is better than drugs. Valium is highly addicting. Diazapam IS valium."

What is diazepam( valium) called in a mexican pharmacy? I need to know what they call it in mexico and the price if its possible. Like for instance tramadol in mexico was called tradol. Please help..thanks in advance! :)

Sea replied: "The same: diazepam, but I'm pretty sure that the drugstore will ask you for a valid prescritpion to sell it to you."

MXDiscipline. replied: "Exactly the same way. Ask for Valium."

valium / diazepam does drinking grapefruit juice make it more or less potent? valium / diazepam does drinking grapefruit juice make it more or less potent? there are alot of condradicting threads.. some say it nullifys valium's effects.. some say it magnifies them.

Nan replied: "The best way to answer your question is to phone your pharmacist. After all that is what they go to school for. They won't laugh. There are alot of foods that can interact with your medications."

Hoopychick replied: "It can make valium less potent. Something in the grapefruit juice does interfere with the proper absorption of valium (as well as some other meds.) It is best to take valium one hour before, or two hours after drinking grapefruit juice. There are studies being done to see if grapefruit has the same effect as grapefruit juice, but for now it's just the juice that needs special considerations."

italia9923 replied: "I believe it increases the side effects, not decreases them. check with your pharmacist. There should be a label on the medicine bottle that says grapefruit juice intensifies the effects of valium."

Is it okay to take Valium (Diazepam) before wisdom teeth removal? I'm having my 4 wisdom teeth removed tomorrow and I will have to take Valium an hour before my appointment. Will this be okay? How will i feel?

YA Junkie replied: "To extract teeth, especially 4, dentists generally give you ample amounts of novocaine, laughing gas or other anesthetics. If the extraction is difficult, the dentist is likely to prescribe medication. You will probably get a pre ion since 4 teeth are being removed. Some of the meds that you might get are over the counter, while others need a pre ion. Some info is in the following link. I have been on Klonopin, which is very related to Valium. A slight delay in taking Valium should not have much consequences, since Valium has a very long half life (it stays in your body a long time). Of course, a long delay in taking Valium can lead to nasty withdrawal symptoms, as you probably know. My GUESS is that you should hold off on the Valium since you will be getting anesthesia and probably painkillers after the dental work. However, I ain't a professional. I think it is REALLY important to call your dentist (or possibly your doctor) and get the answer to your question about the Valium from them. The dentist is trained in knowing about the interaction of meds before giving painkillers. Taking Valium plus an anesthetic plus probably another painkiller may make you much too woozy and is probably too much at once. Ask your dentist. EDIT: Your answer also depends on what dosage of Valium you are taking."

What are the effects of snorting valium (diazepam)? What's the dosage required to reach some sort of "high" or altered state of consciousness through insufflation? How long would it take to kick in? Are the effects any different from ingesting diazepam orally? Please be as detailed as possible in your response. Please try to answer the question and refrain from commenting on anything that does not relate to answering the question. Those who will try to lecture me on the dangers of doing such things do not help to answer the question; I will report you if you do so.

outpostflags replied: "read the mds"

froggsfriend replied: "If you're looking for a quick response, try letting it dissolve on your tongue. It will work faster that way because it goes right into your bloodstream. Snorting it might even lessen the effect. You need about 10 mgs. If you are stuck on snorting, then start with 10 mgs and work your way up from there. Have a nice trip!"

okeyrama replied: "First take about 18 pills of diazepam then grind them into a fine powder. To do this it is convienent to put the pill on a sheet of aluminium foil and crush them with anything very heavy like the bottom of a beer bottle or an exercise weight set, etc., make sure its a powder NOT little chunks. Next, you can line the powder up as if it was 'coke' and snort it through a straw...but remember the powder, if left out long enough will eventually get humid and not be snortable...also if you have a runny nose or a cold it could clog up your nose...plus you should divide the powder you have into two piles so after snorting one you check if the powder is getting in to your lungs and not just being wasted (sticking to your face) before doing the other pile.....SO AFTER SNORTING ONE PILE CHECK YOUR NOSE BEFORE SNORTING THE OTHER PILE...THIS MUST BE DONE QUICKLY OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT GAIN THE EFFECT. It takes about 15min to feel anything. Inhaling actually works faster than taking it orally*****that is why you get the euphoric effect.********.i.e. take diazapam orally will not give you the effect you are looking for because its tooo slow. When taking this orally the stomach has to first break down the pill then absorb it into the bloodstream....as a powder inhaled or ingested it works faster. Make sure you inhale AT LEAST 18 pills at once otherwise you'll be wasting your time..... DO NOT USE MORE THAN 30 PILLS at once. finally YOU ARE RIGHT...ANYONE WARNING YOU ON THE DANGERS OF DOING SUCH THINGS SHOULD BE REPORTED AND THEY SHOULD NOT LECTURE YOU."
