Luc D replied: "There are TONS of things to do! You can go to shows, play in the arcade, tan, climb the wall (Royal Carribean), participate in as MANY shore excursions as you can, go swimming, eat FANTASTIC food! There are ice cream and pizza bars...sooo many things to do!"
Julie T replied: "Ask your parents to get a few sets of the 2-way radios to use on board. You can get them at Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, Target, etc.
That way, the kids can have freedom and the parents piece of mind.
We give them to our 10 and 12 year old and turn them loose to enjoy the ship.
They work on the ship but leave them on board when you go ashore."

Royal Caribbean Cruise? Hello I want to book a cruise with the cruiseline Royal Caribbean Cruises, however I was wondering if it's possible to make monthly payments on it. I would be going in April.
Thanks and I will pick a best answer.
Meow2you replied: "yes you can, but you have to have it paid for 60 days before you sail, I prefer Carnival Cruise lines they are cheaper and better, and yes I have been on both, Take Carnival, trust me on this one"
sungster323 replied: "you have to pay all at once"
Did I pick the best choices for things to do in Coco Cay & Bahamas? I'm going on my first cruise in June, the Royal Carribean Majesty of the Seas. I'm soon to be 15, too, so say if certain things would be boring for me or anything like that. And other suggestions. One of the things I'm not too sure about is the Sea Trek water slide.. I mean is it really worth it, if I'm going to go to the Atlantis water slides? And how much money should I bring for souvenirs, and like Straw Markets.. I have no idea how much money to bring, cause I'm trying to get as much as I can out of these places in the 3 day cruise.

Ali replied: "Well, I have never been on this specific cruise you are going on, but i have eben to Cococay. I would reccomend not doing any shore excursions there because they are over priced and you can do them at other ports. Cococay is RCI's private island, so there isn't really much to do. While we were there, I just got my hair braided, and we went to the beach for a while, and then got back on the ship. Probably if I went back there, i wouldn't even get off the ship."
Cruiser replied: "I was just in Coco Cay two weeks ago. Ill admit I didnt buy anything or take any excursions, but I did take a great interest in what was going on since I would be returning in March.
I checked out the prices ahead of time on all the excursions at Coco Cay and that was the main reason I decided not to do anything. They all seemed to be a bit pricey, 20 dollars for a water slide, 15 for a floating water park, 10 dollars for a raft, 38 for a kayak? I wasnt sure if any of it was actually worth it. I went on a Carnival Cruise last year to a private island and all that was free, I guess I was a little spoiled. The Floating Beach Mat is completely ridiculous and the water slide isnt something Id waste my money on. Everything else seemed to be reasonable.
Depending on what youre into the two things seemingly would be a lot of fun are Parasailing and the Wave Runner excursion, if money is an issue and you have friends with you Id suggest the Floating Water Park too. If you dont have friends with you I wouldnt bother. I talked to a girl who went to the water park with out any friends and was evidently excluded from most of the fun because everyone else was there with friends and ignored her. If you will be going to Key West, you might consider parasailing there as its not nearly as expensive.
There are plenty of bars on the island and if you are traveling with someone over 21 have them buy you a bucket a beer. I bought my cousin a bucket of a beer and we sat by the beach and since I brought my own snorkel gear we just headed out for our own excursion.
When I return to Coco Cay I will be doing a lot of drinking and the Wave Runner excursion, maybe not in that order.
I would do all your shopping in Nassau if I were you. Remember to HAGGLE, dont pay face value, if you want to get a Conch shell in Nassau wait until youre returning to the ship you can talk the guy down to 3.00 dollars for a conch shell or 5 dollars for 2! If youre insistent upon buying stuff at Coco Cay expect to pay 20-25 dollars for a T-Shirt. I dont know what anything else costs, I saw the quality and price of the t-shit and turned around and went back to the beach.
Hope this helped."
Has anyone done any shore excursions for Royal Carribean-Explorer of the Seas going to the following s Labadee, Haiti;
Casa De Campo, Dominican Rep;
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas;
San Juan, Puerto Rico;
>
paducah_billy replied: "I think most of the shore excursions are about the same for all Cruise ships, in San Juan, we went to the Rain Forrest, and that was very nice. The only down side, was it was a long excursion, and no food. We tried to get the bus drive to stop for a snack on the way back but he said it was against the rules. And You can guess what I said he could do with the rules, we were on vacation. But it was nice. In St Thomas we just went to a beech, there are many nice beeches and so we did not do anything from the ship just went to the beech. Most places you land have much to offer, and the prices are often much better than you get on the ship. The ship sell the same excursions and marks them up."
Spanky replied: "I've been to St. Thomas quite a few times. Best beach is Magen's Bay at north end of island, about a 15 minute taxi ride. Good shopping at Havensight where the ship docks and in Charlotte Amalie a few blocks away. If you are looking for watches or jewelry the price is almost always quite negotiable.
Skip the island tour and the tram. Not worth it."
miss_xazzia replied: "I haven't, however, take a look at this link There's a review by someone who's actually been on your exact cruise, with real, non-photoshopped pics of the boat!
For personal experiences on the shore excursions, try this link and scroll down to Ports of Call.
Here are more reviews from your cruise, with mentions of shore excursions peppered in (just do a Ctrl+F and type in "excursions" to get to exactly what you're looking for).
Hope this helps!"
B replied: "No, but then again never been on a cruise.
So why am I answering this, I hear you ask?
Because I am here in Puerto Rico. I think the main excursion will be to El Yunque. By car from San Juan it is about 45mins, it will probably be longer by bus. It is a terrific place to see and hopefully you will be given chance to do one of the trails. If your trip includes stopping at Luquillo beach then you can get food there at the roadside kiosks (#2 is supposed to be good). If not I would take some food and water as it can get quite warm.
The other option would be to just get off the ship and do a walking tour (without a guide) of Old San Juan. There is plenty there to keep you occupied, plus there are plenty of places to eat and drink.
Check out these posts:
Hope you have a great cruise and a great time on-shore"
Port of San Juan, Puerto Rico hotel close to the Pan American Pier? I am going on a Royal Caribbean cruise...
I need to stay close by overnight before the cruise. Can someone recommend a minimum 3-4 star hotel either by the pier or in the city (with easy shuttle service to the pier). I don't have a lot of time, but I would like to do some sightseeing in the city if it's close by.
Thanks,
Maria
Trish012 replied: "There's an old Howard Johnson hotel in the middle of Old San Juan ( *** ). About $258 per night in the peak season. It's pretty nice, lots of things to see nearby. The taxi/shuttle service is available from there."
B replied: "There are plenty of hotels within about 10 mins of the pier and Old San Juan.
There is the Hotel El Convento which is right in the center of the city. I've stayed there for one night and thought it was superb. I read other reviews where people we not so impressed.
If you choose the condado / isla verde area you will have a lot more choices (these will be about 7 miles from pier, so 10-15mins):
Ritz Carltom (4Star)
Condado Plaza (3.5 Star)
San Juan Marriott Resort (4 Star)
El San Juan Hotel (4 Star)
plus many more
If you have a couple of hours you could see a lot of Old San Juan. It's a little hilly so maybe jump on the free trolley bus to El Morro (the fort) and work your way back down through the city. Plenty of places to eat and drink for all budgets. Try Breakfast at La Bombonera (one of the oldest establishments in the city). There are several nice squares where you can stop and have a drink and just enjoy the scenery,
Also, find out when the ship is due to leave San Juan and then you can see exactly how much time you will have to explore.
Hope this helps"
Anna replied: "GOOGLE IT"
scorpionitty replied: "The closest hotels (5 min) to the Panamerican Pier will be Sheraton Old San Juan and Caribe Hilton. Hotels in PR do not offer shuttle services, you will have to take a taxi. They are great hotels and might be a bit expensive. A taxi ride should be around $10. There are more hotels in Condado and Isla Verde area for every budget and style, they will be 15-20 minutes away (depending on traffic) from the pier and a taxi should be around $20.
Visit and click on the interactive map to your bottom left and select the area and types of accommodations for a list."
Royal Carribean Cruise? I am going on a royal carribean cruise. This is the cruise=&selectedCurrencyCode=&promoType=
What should i expect?
Ariel83 replied: "I went on a Royal Carribean Cruise! It was the best! I went on the Monarch of the seas. I think that Royal Carribean is the best Cruise line to go through because my parents have been on others but they are loyal to Royal Caribbean now, they treat you so great!"
jon_mac_usa replied: "Wonderful things"
kimmer727 replied: "I have been on this cruise - on this exact ship. The Monarch is a great little ship. One of Royal Caribbean's smallest.
You will have a great time - the crew members are all very friendly and fun. Ensenada is a horrible place though - I would definately stay on the ship while in port there, and enjoy the pool that day. It's always nice to stay on the ship while in port, most of the people get off- and it seems like you have the whole ship to yourself.
Royal Caribbean is my favorite cruise line - enjoy and have fun!!!"
stephanie s replied: "this was my first cruise on royal and i loved it. the ship is smaller but clean and the food is amazing. if you like to people watch go to the anchor bar. the rooms are really small but you only sleep in there. san dieago is one of my fav cities there is so much to do if its a family either go to the zoo or sea world. catalina island is a really gorgous island and hopefully the fires didnt ruin it. i would recommend renting golf carts and tour and shop on your own. in ensenada take the tour where you see the blow hole it is an amazing site and you can go to the markets after and it is outside of ensenda. have fun!"
BR3NDIT@ replied: "I went on a Royal Carribean Cruise!! Empress of the Seas! Their cruiseline is AMAZING and FUN! I enjoyed the food, the buffets at 11:30pm, the parties, teenager group activities where they have scavenger hunts ALL OVER the cruise ship! They give you a list of 30 items and you have 30min to go all throught the cruise ship and find them! We asked random strangers if they had any of the items...And we even got to meet the capitan! He helped us too!
Lets c...the waiters are great and friendly, and so are the rest of the members on board. At night they have shows, comedy, plays, music, and more...lots of fun!
Hope you have fun!"
coolliz2444 replied: "Ensenada is a very very dirty place and the area that the ship pulls into is so filthy. We when went we chose not to get off of the ship because it was so dirty and just disgusting and we enjoyed sleeping in and just lounging around on the cruise ship. In Catalina they have some very nice tours and everything and it is a very nice place. Extremely small though. It's a beautiful island."
Baltic cruise in July? OK, I'm trying to compare two cruises here: one is Royal Caribbean, and the other is Celebrity. I want to know the pros and cons of the Baltic from an experienced cruiser. I want to know what are the top attractions, and which cruise I should choose, even though I am leaning more towards the Royal Caribbean one. Please help, my summer depends on you! :)

And the last question is will I be disappointed with my time in Russia, since there is so much to do?
t-bone replied: "If anyone has an argument with this statement i welcome it
I have travelled with all the above and found them to be great services but as we became a Little more well healed we travelled with Crystal cruise line and never looked back, by the way both you mentioned are owned by Crystal or are part of the same company.
Scandinavian Symphony, Copenhagen to Stockholm
but if i were you i would check out Crystal cruise line, it would be a little more than most but the rooms and food are to die for.
10 time cruiser
have no fear. just one suggestion i would consider stronly ,
if you get a balcony with your unit it will be the best investment you would have ever made."
ultracat111 replied: "I would do the royal one as it has a stop in Oslo ( I haven't been..i have been to amsterdam) and the other does not...I went on a baltic cruise with NCL in May 2006 and my favorite stop was Copenhagen because of the Tivoli gardens...our ship docked in the evening and left the next day...the gardens were beautiful at night....as for Russia, unless you get a VISA you have to travel in a group...we did the Hermitage and peter and paul cathedral.....do as may excursions as you can in russia....I won't do the hermitage again....Tallinn is also very beautiful and is the place to by your Russian souvenirs as they are cheaper here than in St. Petersburg.... there is however a wonderful market across from the church of spilled blood(the church is a must see)...you will love it....i wish i went to a ballet in russia on the evening excursion but I didn't.....so people missed it because the traffic was so bad in st petersburg that some buses were late getting back from afternoon excursions......have a great time!!!
but don't change to NCL because the ship is the Dream and it is their oldest ship and has problems with overcrowding in the sports bar for breakfast buffets and the pizza lounge at lunch was overcrowded...the restaurants were fine however"
trykindness replied: "Go with the Royal Cruise because celebrity has too many kids. Baltic is a perfect place to go to in July, you are very lucky. Von Boyage"
missanglgrl replied: "I can't go into real details about this, but I would suggest that you go with Celebrity. Royal Caribbean is a economy line compared to Celebrity. I better comparision is Celebrity with Hollland America or Cunard."
thomas1408 replied: "My personal opinion is that Celebrity is a better cruise line than Royal Caribbean, even though Celebrity is owned by Royal. They cater to a higher end clientele. Celebrity typically caters to passengers between the age of 40 to 60. It all depends on what is more important to you, the service / amenities onboard or the ports of call."

239 pp + port fees and prepaid tips of 40$ per person
100 per port for gifts/souvioners unless you like to spend money, then more than that. plus a credit card for other things you may not have cash for.
40$ per day per person for the casino.
the actual cruise would be about 652 for the two of you without the pre paid tips and gratuity."
